A little LinkedIn letter
Hello friends and wider world; this marks my first ever LinkedIn post! I’m here to write something people can genuinely care about, but for context I’m not a big social media user and I really struggle with acts of self-promotion, so here goes.
Maybe you went to school with me a long time ago, perhaps you’re in the hearing care industry and we haven’t ever met - but I’ll bet we have more than just these things in common. The past few months have been some of the most demanding and yet rewarding of my life. When our son was born we took the plunge and launched Southwest Hearing down in Devon, uprooting our young family from Bristol in the process, and searching out that idyllic country/coastal life we’ve always sought after (no half measures here). I’m super pleased to announce things have gone from strength to strength, but that isn’t to say it hasn’t been without a significant stress factor.
From humble beginnings we worked all the hours definitely deemed antisocial, answering every call and appointment whilst very much learning how to parent as a nomad(!). We started by renting a shared space just one day week, and built from there. We now have our very own dedicated hearing clinic in the centre of Totnes, with more exciting partnerships on the imminent horizon!
I’m so grateful to work alongside my best friend and life partner Vicki Doyle; our dynamic duacity has formed the bedrock of this healthy work-life balance. And of course without the love and support of our friends, family, and former colleagues we definitely wouldn’t have made it so far. Please consider this a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone that’s been by our side on this immense journey - we hope to see you down south whenever the call of the wild beckons you, and our doors are always open.
To the people who don’t know me so well - thank you for reading so far down quite a lengthy post. Consider this an open forum for discussion on the peaks and pitfalls of launching a new business. Like it, re-share it, and feel free to follow our Instagram account to keep abreast of the journey!
In supporting us from afar you’re helping people seek out solutions to their hearing health needs - you might even need our assistance yourself one day, and we’ll be right here. Whilst our main clinic is based in Totnes, Devon, we also offer a home visit service for patients anywhere between Bristol to Bodmin. Please bear us in mind for any friends or family you have in the South West - in return I’ll be just as likely to follow / support your business ventures in the future.
